In the early days of software development, traditional construction and engineering practices were effective in designing and creating valuable systems. However, the rate of technological change and ubiquity of software applications and knowledge work has revolutionized not only systems development but every industry, discipline, and every fabric of society. Over the last 20 years it has become apparent that traditional approaches to systems design and development are largely ineffective at creating sustainable value and keeping up with increasing rates of change, uncertainty, and volatility. Agile has steadily emerged as an effective approach to addressing this problem and has seen increasing adoption in a wide variety of organizations. This workshop will give an in-depth overview of what Agile is, where it came from, how it works, and insight into the crucial implications it has for the world of data analytics, business intelligence, and data warehousing.
