Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality is the use of special technology to immerse users in a 3D computer generated world. In the last few years, Virtual Reality has become more obtainable than ever before between the development of VR ready computers, high end immersive headsets, and mobile VR applications. Virtual Reality is beginning to increase among consumers for entertainment purposes, especially in gaming. Even many major companies are beginning to invest in this technology as a way to train employees or advertise to customers. Virtual Reality provides an additional layer into current platforms and opens the door for new immersions.

Tech Kits

Tech Kits are part of the walk-in service provided by Innovate Labs. There are three levels of difficulty meant for different users and their experience with the different technologies. Many of the Tech Kits build off each other as you progress.

Beginner

Meta Quest 2 Virtual Reality Headset

Length: 30 - 60 Minutes

Description: The Quest 2 is an advanced all-in-one standalone virtual reality headset that allows users to explore and interact with virtual 3D environments. The headset and controllers track where the user is looking as well as rotation and position of their controllers. Users are fully immersed in Virtual Reality with hand tracking touch control and built-in sensors relieve the need for external hardware. While the Quest 2 is being marketed mostly for gaming, this tech kit will explore how the experience can be utilized further.

 

Intermediate

Meta Quest 3 Virtual Reality Headset (IN PROGRESS)

Length: 30 - 60 Minutes

Description: The Quest 3 is Meta's latest installment to its series of Virtual Reality headsets. Similar to the Quest 2, it is a standalone virtual reality headset that allows its users to explore and interact with virtual 3D environment. New to the Quest 3, however, is its mixed reality capabilities thanks to its upgraded 6 exterior cameras that allow for full color vision of the outside world. Hardware upgrades allow for better screen resolution and superior hand-tracking to its predecessor, making for a much smoother and enjoyable user experience.

Advanced

HTC Vive XR Elite           

Length: 30 - 60 Minutes

Description: Building upon the rudimentary VR experiences explored in the first two tech kits, this tech kit introduces more advanced VR technologies, devices, and platforms. Using the HTC Vive XR Elite and ZOTAC VR GO Backpack, users can dive into the powerful compatibility of a VR headset and computer to engage in tasks and games beyond the power of just a standalone headset.
